Google giving free phones to devs!

So Google is giving free phones to developers who had at least 3.5 star ratings and 5000 unique downloads as of February 2010. reddit is fun met the conditions and I'll be getting a free Droid or Nexus One (based on "random distribution")!

TechCrunch has a posting about it so I'm pretty sure it's not a scam!

  1. I know this is old but, just wanted to say anyway. Dude, your app is of a ridiculous level of quality (Looking at the source and using the app) .So I mean if not you then who, Am I right?

I'm currently trying to decide on the best approach to handling background tasks. I was sure you were using service calls but, AsyncTask seems to work.

  2. Thanks for the comment! AsyncTask took a bit of getting used to, but I use it for everything in reddit is fun.

I'd say it really depends on your use case--AsyncTask for relatively short-lived threads, and Service for threads that stay around.

Looking back, I could have implemented reddit is fun as a Service and UI and done away with most of the AsyncTasks, but eh. Like you said, AsyncTasks work, and I like them.
